Wheat Allergies

Not many people will put a allergy to wheat on the list of possible allergies. The truth however is that it is not uncommon for a person to suffer from a wheat allergy. In fact 1 in 7 people will be affected by an allergy to wheat. This may not sound like it is that rare but in fact it really is. Now just because an allergy to wheat is not that common does not mean that we need not talk about it. In fact this is information that you will need as one day you may have a friend that is allergic to wheat.
First lets get some facts cleared up about the allergy. First what exactly is the allergy to begin with, for starters the problem is actually due to glutin, this is found in wheat as well as several other products, knowing this alone make the elimination of wheat out of your life nearly impossible.
Now the good news is this, unlike a reaction to something else a allergy to wheat is not a life-threatening condition. This is the good news, the bad news is that you will wind up with a very embarrassing situation including severe gas and bloating. These are the two main conditions that are associated with a wheat allergy.
Now the bad news with a wheat allergy is that it is extremely hard to diagnose. Many times the symptoms of an allergy will appear to be a result of another health issue. In this case your doctor may just have to do a trial and error until he finds the source of the problem. Simple observation will not detect the allergy itself, you will need to go to your doctor and have a battery of test done that will determine id in fact you have an allergy.
The list of symptoms often times resemble that of a reaction to something else such as fruit or shellfish. This in addition makes diagnosing this allergy that much harder. If you suspect that you have an allergy to wheat then you will want to go to your doctor and have him run some test that will determine if you are suffering from an allergy to wheat.
Once a determination has been made then you will need to try and change your diet to try and eliminate wheat from it. This sounds easier to do than it actually is, but if you try hard you will be able to rework your diet.
Managing a allergy to wheat is not that hard to do all it takes is a little time and patience and a willingness to change your eating habits.
