Want to Learn to Play Guitar Chords but have no idea where to start? Don’t worry, everyone goes through that at first. Let me help you by telling you that you need to start with two things besides the obvious things like a guitar. You first need to improve finger strength, dexterity and flexibility. After that you need to simply get some song tabs and start practicing. I will write down some of the exercises that helped me a lot when I first started.

Learn To Play Guitar Chords – Finger Exercise One

Before starting, you need to know the finger numbering when playing a guitar. Finger number one is the Index finger while finger number four is the pinkie, or little finger. The notes in this exercise are played from the left to right. Start at the 5th fret low E, which is the fattest string. Play four notes to each string, one note at a time using all four fingers like this 1-2-3-4. After that move down to the string A with all four fingers, 1-2-3-4 again. Always alternate the pick down and then up. Continue like so then go back from the high E to the low E but using the fingers like so 4-3-2-1. This means that you press each with each finger, but not all at once.

Learn To Play Guitar Chords – Finger Exercise Two

Once you are comfortable with the first exercise, try starting on the 6th and 7th fret or anywhere you want. Use the fingers the same way, 1 then 2 then 3 then 4, that’s what 1-2-3-4 means. Remember to alternate the pick down then up. Your fingers will get tired pretty fast and also get soar and hurt a little. But if you keep at it, eventually those feelings will disappear.

Learn To Play Guitar Chords – Finger Exercise Three

This exercise is a bit different so try it only after getting used to those two. Start at the low E string and work your way from the left to the right. The way you use your fingers is different here, you do it like so, 1,2 – 2,1; 2,3 – 3,2; 3,4 – 4,3 and so on all the way through each string. Remember to alternate your pick to help build up speed.

Learn To Play Guitar Chords – Finger Exercise Four

This exercise is also a bit different. Play one note at a time like so 1,2,1; 2,3,2; 3,4,3; 2,3,2. Then move to the next string and repeat. Onceyou got a feel for this one, try doing it without your picking hand. Do hammer-ons and pull-offs to really work your fingers and learn to play guitar chords in no time.

Gaining the accuracy needed to play a guitar can be pretty hard. If you are enthusiastic and determined enough you can get the results you want pretty fast. I keep using this exercises to warm up before playing around with my guitar or just jamming with friends. You can learn to play the guitar easily without having to waste hours a day or thousands of dollars. Exercises like these are only the beginning if you truly want to learn to play guitar chords or anything else, you need the Best Guitar Guide
